Meet Christian Leipski, Data Scientist of 1 year and 2 months.

  1. What does your day-to-day look like?
My day-to-day work can be quite varied. One day, I might research and prototype data science and machine-learning approaches for upcoming AI products. On another day, I might be focused on ensuring a customer’s success in utilizing our existing AI solutions.
  2. What has been your favorite offsite team oriented event, and why?
The indoor mini golf. A great way to show off my non-existent putting skills while having a great time with my colleagues.
  3. What role(s) did you start in at Helpshift and how have you graduated/migrated into different roles?
My role has always been that of a data scientist. In the beginning, my tasks were more research-oriented: reading academic papers and implementing promising approaches for testing. Since the beginning of the year, I was also working closely with our customer success team for onboarding customers onto our new AI products where I contributed technical expertise, guidance, and education.
  4. Describe how Helpshift has helped you in your career development:
Originally coming from an academic background, I used to work primarily on scientific research. At Helpshift, the customer-centric mindset of developing AI tools and the opportunity to work directly with customers interested in those solutions really allowed me to develop my skills as a data scientist in a business setting.
  5. Favorite thing about working for an SF tech startup:
It’s a fast-paced environment which keeps it always interesting and new.
  6. What advice would you have for prospective Helpshift candidates:
Be humble and driven. Be willing to teach and to learn.
  7. What is your proudest moment at Helpshift:
It was exciting being able to contribute to the overwhelming success of our first AI product, which we released earlier this year.
  8. How would you describe the company culture and what do you like most about it:
The culture has an excellent mix of attributes: focused, generous, fast-paced, energetic and people centric.
  9. Superpower (real or fake):
    Teleportation!
  10. Slightly addicted to:
    Collecting music.
  11. Always on the search for the perfect:
Afternoon in a beer garden, close to nature ;)
  12. If you could interview one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?:
It would be super interesting to have a conversation with one of my ancestors who lived a thousand years ago.
